“Y2K” REVIEW

Let’s go back and party like it’s 1999. Of course that is until the clock strikes midnight and computers take over.

The latest A24 film does an exceptional job of reliving everything that went with the 90’s and early 2000’s including the realistic fear that millions of people had for that iconic strike of midnight. Told as a comedy horror that will have audiences on the edge of their seats while remembering iconic icons including the infamous video store of the past.

Y2K stars West Side Story‘s Rachel Zegler and and Knives Out‘s Jaeden Martell who both do an exceptional job as a whole. There is also a slight element of a romantic flare as the two find themselves in an emotional turmoil while trying to save the World from utter devastation.

All in all at an hour and a half run time, Y2K could be called a modern day terminator as it is ultimately a battle of man vs. machine in a stand up comedy film that as it is rate R, does contain a bit of. adult humor. That being said, it might not be suitable for young ears, but if you have the strength and will power to sit through it, Y2K won’t disappoint.

The film came out in theaters December 5 and is currently playing in limited ones near you.
