The latest remake of the classic Universal monster is showing humanity to the beast.
When a family, visiting the property of their recently deceased father, gets attacked by the infamous Wolf man, time is ticking to their survival. The question is will everyone be able to survive or will the ultimate sacrifice have to be made?
Wolf Man stars Kraven’s Christopher Abbott as the father who ultimately gets bitten by the monster and finds himself changing. All in all, Abbott does an exceptional job portraying that as well as adding the human aspect. The line that he says to his daughter, “That his job is to protect” shines in the moments leading up to his full transformation. One can truly see the man behind the beast that ultimately just wants to protect his family, even if it means having to kill someone he loved dearly.
Additionally, the film stars Julie Garner as his wife and Matilda Firth as his daughter. Each equally do a phenomenal job of bring terror to the screen while inevitably faced with the choice of whether to let the Wolf Man live or to put him out of his misery.
As the first horror film of the new year, Blumhouse’s Wolf Man will have you one the edge of your seat. It’s packed with several jump scares that will have your heart beating from the first moment in those woods. It also will leave you thinking in the end as the humanity aspect pays an important key to the monster’s fate.
Wolf Man came out in theaters Friday January 17 and is currently playing in one near you.
