“White Bird” REVIEW

The Wonder Story continues. Julian is in a new school just trying to fit in and not get involved with the bullies again which was his demise in his previous school. When his grandmother comes to visit, she finds herself telling her story as a means of encouraging her young grandson to seek kindness.

White Bird is yet another powerful film, centered around the devastation of the holocaust. It takes place in a French territory where, young Sarah finds kindness and ultimately first love through the most devastating time of the 20th century. The film stars award winning actress Helen Mirren in what is ultimately another award winning performance. Mirren certainly has a distinct way of capturing the stage and bringing that sense of emotion to movie goers everywhere.

When she is not on the stage, she is telling in as an incredible list of young actors take over to create a story that will have tears in your eyes as you walk out of the theaters. Those actors includes Bryce Gheisar as he reprises his role as Julian, as well as Ariella Glaser as young Sara and Orlando Scherdt as Julien. All three young actors definitely embrace the story in such a way that the same emotion that Mirren portrays is convicted on the children on screen.

Additionally there is a powerful song that is repeated throughout the film as a message to all. Watch the trailer now which includes a snippet of that powerful song.

White Bird is certainly a film for all to experience in the theaters as it comes out October 4th for all to see. Rated PG 13, it’s for sure acceptable for a older child or teen as it carries a powerful message that we all must not forget the past. We need to remember or else be destined to repeat the devastating history.
