“Unsung Hero” REVIEW

The powerful story of one family’s successful journey to America in order to live out their musical dreams through a Mother’s love is bringing people to theaters and giving Challengers’ a run for their money. Unsung Hero is the story behind to of the biggest names in Christian music, For King and Country and Rebecca St. James. It shows the power behind these musical talent, not only God but also their mother’s unbelievable strength in God alone.

All through the film follows the family from rock bottom in Australia to taking risks of moving to America for the musician’s “American Dream”. The film stars real life Joel Smallbone from For King and Country, as he portrays his own father David Smallbone as well as Rebecca St James who also has a small cameo on the plane as the flight attendant. Additionally, Candace Cameron Byre and Terry O’Quinn also work hard in this story to bring it to life for all to see.

Unsung Hero is a film for most audiences, though some areas might be a bit intense for young viewers. That being said, it’s taken from real life events and will cause one to view the Smallbone family as true ambassadors for the message. It will have you laughing, crying and remembering everything that made the music so much better because of who it is being sung to.

The film came out in theaters April 26 and is currently playing in a theater near you.
