“Twisters” REVIEW

“If you feel it, chase it!”

In the latest blockbuster, this is the core of the story. When Kate gets another chance to challenge the tornado, she quickly finds out she is not alone. The only thing is it’s not just the tornado that she has to conquer, but her past. The question is will she be able to do both while protecting those she care about.

The new twist of a 90’s classic carries a new story with similar elements to the original. “Where the Crawdads SingsDaisy Edgar Jones stars as Kate and does an exceptional job of using that same type of raw emotion as she did in “Crawdads”. Similarly her connection with costar, Glen Powell from Top Gun adds an extra element of charm. Similar to Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt in the original, it’s that added romance element that drives the story in Twisters.

Twisters is, in large part, a full standalone film with a unique storyline. That being said, there is a bit of homage to the original, with a special cameo by the late Bill Paxton’s son, James.

There’s also the same added element of the tornado chasing team as Transformers Anthony Ramos, rounds it out. Ramos has an added element as well as he is shown to be growing up with Kate and knowing a bit of her past.

All in all, Twisters is a high paced fun movie for he summer. It contains awesome special effects tied to real life tornado chasing methods that will have you on the edge of your seat. It came out in theaters July 19, 2024 and is currently playing in a theater near you.
