One of Hasbro’s most popular toys from the 80’s is now getting a new back story in Transformers One. Going behind enemy lines and taking humans out of the equation, we see when Megatron and Optimus Prime were actually friends. Of course, they weren’t called by those names as we are introduced to Orion Pax and D-16 and guess who the rubble rouser was? No, it’s not who you think as we see Orion Pax dragging D-16 into trouble. It was a brotherly bond that eventually loses when D-16 realizes Orion Pax real strength.
Transformers One stars new voices including Chris Hemsworth as Orion Pax who does an exceptional job of living up to the original voice of Optimus Prime. Honestly one can almost not even tell the difference between the two voices (Peter Cullen from the original movie franchise vs Hemsworth presently). Similarly other voices include Brian Tyree Henry as D-D-16, Keegan-Michael Keyes as B-127, Scarlett Johannson as Elita- 1, and Laurence Fishburne as Alpha Trion all of whom fully embrace the voice and feel that makes this new transformers movie one that will not disappoint either generation.
It introduces newbies to the toy 40 generations old, while rekindling the spark in the rest of us that will leave us wanting to dust off our original toys. There’s also a slight superman vibe especially with a sacrifice that Orion Pax must ultimately make, but of course that’s not the end and one can for sure see room for anticipated sequels.
At an hour and forty-four-minute run time, Transformers One will have audiences engaged in the fun colors and action scenes as we route for the miner bots who have the dream of something more. In a world where dreams may seem hopeless, it’ll give us hope in the fight no matter what we face. The film came out in theaters, Thursday night, September 19 and is currently playing in one near you. See it if you want to relive your childhood and/or bring a new generation to experience the joy of the Autobots.
Ready! Autobots! Roll Out!
