Stephen King‘s infamous short story is now getting it’s theatrical debut in The Monkey. A toy monkey terroizes a village and all he does is bang is drum. Twins Hal and Bill stumble across this Monkey while going though their father’s belongings. Un realizing of the monkey’s power, the boys tempt fate by winding the keys. That’s when things start to happen including the mysterious death of their mother and Uncle. Now the question is can the boys get rid of the evil object before it devours more innocent people.
The film stars Divergent’s Theo James, Lord of the Ring’s Elijah Wood, and Wonka’s Colin O’brien as they bring the terror to the big screen in a way that will send audiences to the edge of their seats. The acting will have everyone wondering what is about to happen next as Osgood Perkin’s as the director also has a small, yet pivotal role in the short story classic.
It’s a film that definitely holds up to the Stephen King flare as there is more to the story than just that of a deranged Monkey attempting to murder. The question is why is the monkey killing and what is it’s motivation.
At an hour and 38 minute runtime, The Monkey will have everyone in suspense from the first scene to the last as we wonder who is the next victim of the deranged Monkey. Coming to theaters, February 21, 2025, it is currently playing in one near you.
