“The Invitation” REVIEW

Evie never should have accepted the invitation from long lost cousin. In a fluke turn of events where she does an unplanned DNA test, she decides to venture to England to meet cousin Oliver as he invites her to a wedding. The question haunts her from the first moment in the big house, where is the bride and groom?

The Invitation is ones classic “Twilight” meets “Interview with a Vampire” and what is intriguing, one does not realize the vampire behind the enchanting family in the mysterious mansion. All in all the film hold the same romantic charm as most traditional vampire movies, with the charming gentleman that all the women fawn over. That handsome gentleman, played by Descendants star, Thomas Doherty, definitely carries that same charm as his previous vampire predecessors. He has that suave debonaire about him that makes everyone swone at first sight, especially with his killer english accent.

The young woman at the receiving end of the invitation, played by Fast 9′s Nathalie Emmanuel, equally does a good job of that independent woman looking for something else and when she finds it, she does everything in her power to escape, even if it means turning into a vampire herself and destroying everything. Coming off the Fast and the Furious film, Emmanuel does a great job of using that same fiery charm to carry her own in this much darker and yet more romantic scene.

Ultimately The Invitation is a surprise hit that anyone who loves a good vampire love story with a twist, would be encouraged to take in at the box office. Though it may not have the ending that you expect, it will certainly have you on the edge of your seats wondering just what will happen next.
