“The Hill” REVIEW

It’s the true story of Rickey Hill, a preachers kids’s son with a nearly impossible dream. That dream is to play baseball in the major leagues. There’s just one problem, a spinal injury that may all but paralyze him if not properly taken care of. Not to mention, his father, a man of great faith seeks to protect Rickey from the inevitablte. The question is at what cost as Rickey lives his life with one verse, “With God all things are possible”.

The hill is aan awesome journey of one family who must watch Rickey put his life on the line and turly dig deep into what faith is truly all about. The film stars Dennis Quaid as Pastor and father and he digs deep in his sould and from past films to bring a performance unlike anything we have ever seen. That being said, it certainly resembles that of his performance in American Underdog or Tiger rising, but this one sees. more of a tug over the idea of God’s way or His own for his son.

Additionally, tv star Joelle Carter plays Rickey’s mother and does an exceptional job of balancing her duty to support her children’s dreams and that of her husband’s. There are also quite of bit of scenes which will have audiences tearing up at the awesome performances.

One to highlight is the young boy playing Rickey early on. In his debut performance on the big screen, Jesse Berry is definitely one to keep your eye on. His acting is so clean and spot on, especially next to seasoned actors like Quaid. He puts so much emotion and dedication into his portrayal of young Rickey that it only adds to the tears that are inevitable. His performance also matches that of Colin Ford, who plays an older Rickey and does a spectacular job as well.

Lastly, iconic actor Scott Glenn stars as top scout who ultimately challenges Rickey even though an injury.

All of these actors would not make The Hill what it is and ultimately to inspire everyone of the real reason we fight. The emotional movie came out in theaters August 25 and is currently showing in one near you.
