“The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” REVIEW

Christmas comes early to the theaters as the holiday season kicks off with The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.

A 75 year tradition is shaken up with changes including the communities worst behaved children being center stage. In a effort to save face and bring the community together, we get a glimpse at the true meaning of Christmas.

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, told from the eyes of the daughter of the mother who takes on the impossible task, is one for the whole family. It contains an all important message of both acceptance and redemption which is important during the holiday season.

The heartfelt movie stars Mighty Ducks’ Lauren Graham as the narrator telling the story of her mother’s impossible feat. Additionally, the mother, played by Jurassic World‘s Judy Greer, gives the heart of the film in a serious yet comical way. Greer’s chemistry with her husband counterpart, Pete Holmes, makes the film that much more entertaining to watch.

Additionally, the breakthrough of the movie comes from the young actress playing the eldest Herdman, Beatrice Schneider. We see the most growth from her character as we see a young girl who just seems angry until introduced by the “truth” and it’s the “truth” that will ultimately set her free. This is the first full length film that Schneider has ever starred in and one can hope it won’t be the last. She for sure seems to have a bright future, especially if the right people see her performance.

All in all, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, came out in theaters to the Thursday night crowd on November 7 and is sure start the holiday season out right. It’s currently playing in a theater near you.
