The feel good movie of the year has audiences rushing to the theaters the week before Thanksgiving as the Lionsgate film, Wonder snagged second behind Marvel’s Justice League.
Wonder starsJulia Roberts as Isabel andOwen Wilson as Nate, as the parents of August “Auggie” Pullman (Jacob Tremblay), a little boy born with a rare facial deformity. As Auggie approaches middle school, Nate and Isabel finally decide that now is the right time to enter him into a prestigious middle school. Afraid of what kids would say, Auggie goes to school and faces the typical peer pressure and teasing that all new kids go through, though it seems amplified because of his condition.
At the same time, his older sister Via (Izabela Vidovic), though invisible because of her brother, she also faces changes in her school as she encounters betrayal and first love at the same time, while trying to vi for her parents approval in the shadow of her little brother.
Wonder is told through multiple perspectives including Auggie, Via, Via’s best friend, Miranda and Auggie’s friend, Jack Will and shows how each person’s perspective can see things very differently.
All in all, Wonder is a great feel good movie for the holidays. It will have you laughing and crying and thinking about the bigger picture when it comes to relationships.
Wonder came out in theaters November 17, 2017 and has brought in over 27 million domestically at the box office. It’s currently playing at a theater near you.
