“Movies” In Warner Park

In addition to Warner Center’s concert series, the center provides family friendly movies in the park on Saturday nights during the summer. Residents gather in front of the big screen beginning at 8:00 and as soon as the sun goes down the movie lights up the screen for a two hours experience.

Vendors sell movie appropriate snacks including kettle corn, iced drinks to compensate for the hot summer night and more.

Last night’s movie was the latest Star Wars: The Last Jedi which the park was moderately packed for the occasion and the next movie of the summer is scheduled for August the 4th and will feature the classic “Summer Lovin” Film, Grease.

22 Years of Books At USC

As previously reported, the University of Southern California invited thousands of various authors in nearly every genre to a

And still more books were available for as little as five dollars at various stands throughout as well as authors who offered festival sale prices for new and recent books that they released in the past year.

In addition, the students of USC’s medical department offered complimentary health screenings including vision and dental this

year.

Free Yogurt For International Yogurt Day

Every year on February 6, in honor of International Yogurt Day, Yogurtland’s across the nation give away free yogurt to all during the hours of 4 and 7 p.m.

People stand in line at various locations for half an hour or more awaiting the savory dessert.

But the result is worth it when they walk out the door with one cup per person.

Residents can fill up the 5 ounce cup with as little yogurt.

or as much as one can handle in the cup.

There are a variety of flavors to choose from including the newest kit kat and malt ball chocolate.

And everyone has fun creating unique one of the kind creations in order to see just how tall the can make it.

topping include strawberries, pineapple as well as the popular sprinkies, peanut butter cup, and animal cracker cookie.

In the end, each creation is weighted and given completely free with even a dollar off coupon encouraging yogurt lovers to come back.

31 Years Of Avocados in Carpenteria

Of course people were intrigued by the ever popular deep fried avocado.

Or the could take home their own salsa plant.

There were also Avocado Shrimp cocktail for just seven dollars.

Avocado soap showed the various ways the the fruit can be useful.

Various vendors were set up along the festival selling unique one of a kind jewelry.

And a one piece jumpsuit by Bali Cremi had spectators marveling over the unique fashion.

Of course Avocado Oil was right at home at the festival.

Various types of avocados including the reed and daly were on display so one could see what types are grown in Carpentaria.

And hass avocados were available for purchase for as low as 6 for 10 dollars.

A giant fair wheel marked the entrance of the festival.

And slot cars keep children entertained for hours.

Local businesses like the Laughing Buddha Thrift benefited from the festival by opening its doors to people who walked down the street.

Handpainted portraits of avocados fit right in outside the thrift store for people to purchase.

81st Annual Danish Days In Solvang

The pot belly pig was back in the parade this year as it celebrated 25 years as a company.

And Herbie made an appearance down Mission Drive.

As well as the horse drawn carriage that takes people around the city daily for a small fee.

This year’s Danish Maid, Gabrielle Heron holds tradition as her mother, sister and cousin were all previous Danish maids and her gown was especially designed after her mother’s.

Vikings were in the house as always with their ship rolling down main street.

And this year’s grand marshal was one of the original founders of Solvang Petti Pfau.

There was even more to see in the Artisian Marketplace from 10-4.

Iron knitting to create beautiful jewelry.

And handpainted fans and bookshelf were also sold at the maketplace.

And heading the parade celebrating, “How Sweet it is.”, the color guard carried both the California Flag and the Danish one down Mission Drive.

In the Viking Encampment visitors could see just how the Vikings lived.

And children got to see the weapons that they used as well.

Winter Concert in Santa Clarita Valley

On November 6, 2016, the Santa Clarita Philharmonic held their annual winter concert and invited the public to an afternoon of music free at the Hart High School auditorium. As previously reported, the nonprofit organization has been performing for four years now and play a variety of classical selections throughout the year including Copland, Hovhaness and debuting at this concert a piece composed by concert master, Sarah Walin Huff. A “Haus” Milestone

On Friday August 26, Dog Haus reached a milestone with the re-grand opening of the original store in Pasadena as well as the official grand opening of their 20th store in Northridge, California. To commemorate the occasion, the two stores offered a select choice of free hot dogs to patrons from 11 a.m to 10 p.m.

Residents in Pasadena, lined up outside the original Dog Haus as they offered a selection of free hot dogs all day long.

The first Dog Haus original opened in 2010 at this location in Pasadena.

20 stores later, this one in Northridge will now serve a different community.

The manager of the store in Northridge opened the door for each and every person who came in for the special occasion of a “free” hot dog.

With a banner as you walk in, the surround college of Cal State Northridge is honored inside.

Residents could get a selections of dogs including the famous “Cowboy” as well as the “Downtown Dog” or the “Scott Baioli”.

In addition, residents could also fill up on extra additions including hamburger sliders for just $1.50.

National Night Out in the San Fernando Valley

The small town of San Fernando came out to the Civic Center in Downtown San Fernando for the National Night Out. There were free hot dogs, cupcakes and sodas for all as residents got to know their neighbors as well as members of the San Fernando LAPD, who were there in uniform.

The event lasted from 6-9 and was sponsored by local businesses and public officials including Farm Johns, Sweetness Cupcakes & Cakes as well as Go Country 105.1.

There was music and entertainment all night long including a Country female trio Honey County as well as a folklorico dance group.

Congressman Tony Cardenas was amongst the few public officials who came out in support of our law enforcement and, in fact said, the turnout was one of the largest National Night Out Gatherings in the Los Angeles County.

A 1956 Chevy Police Car was on display for people to get pictures with and engage in conversation with the police offices.

Kids could make their own masks demonstrating the importance of protecting themselves against strangers.

And of course upcoming events were also being promoted go encourage community involvement in the San Fernando Valley.

National Night out was original started nearly 33 years ago with a Neighborhood watch in Philadelphia, PA as a day to bridge the barriers between the community and the police department and today is celebrated the first Tuesday of August for most states nationwide (Texas is one of the exceptions in which National Night Out is celebrated the first Tuesday in October).

Arbor Day in Santa Clarita

Arbor Day came early to residents in Santa Clarita as people came out to Central Park to browse the selections of free trees and other services to improve their homes as well as the life of future generations. The Weekend festivities commenced Saturday April 16th at 10 A.M and was a combination of a Home and Garden Show, Emergency Expo and more.
