“Movies” In Warner Park

In addition to Warner Center’s concert series, the center provides family friendly movies in the park on Saturday nights during the summer.  Residents gather in front of the big screen beginning at 8:00 and as soon as the sun goes down the movie lights up the screen for a two hours experience.

Vendors sell movie appropriate snacks including kettle corn, iced drinks to compensate for the hot summer night and more.

Last night’s movie was the latest Star Wars: The Last Jedi which the park was moderately packed for the occasion and the next movie of the summer is scheduled for August the 4th  and will feature the classic “Summer Lovin” Film, Grease.

22 Years of Books At USC

As previously reported, the University of Southern California invited thousands of various authors in nearly every genre to a

And still more books were available for as little as five dollars at various stands throughout as well as authors who offered festival sale prices for new and recent books that they released in the past year.

In addition, the students of USC’s medical department offered complimentary health screenings including vision and dental this

year.

Winter Concert in Santa Clarita Valley

On November 6, 2016, the Santa Clarita Philharmonic held their annual winter concert and invited the public to an afternoon of music free at the Hart High School auditorium.  As previously reported, the nonprofit organization has been performing for four years now and play a variety of classical selections throughout the year including Copland, Hovhaness and debuting at this concert a piece composed by concert master, Sarah Walin Huff.  Listen below for the complete concert highlights.

A “Haus” Milestone

On Friday August 26, Dog Haus reached a milestone with the re-grand opening of the original store in Pasadena as well as the official grand opening of their 20th store in Northridge, California.  To commemorate the occasion, the two stores offered a select choice of free hot dogs to patrons from 11 a.m to 10 p.m.

National Night Out in the San Fernando Valley

The small town of San Fernando came out to the Civic Center in Downtown San Fernando for the National Night Out.  There were free hot dogs, cupcakes and sodas for all as residents got to know their neighbors as well as members of the San Fernando LAPD, who were there in uniform.

The event lasted from 6-9 and was sponsored by local businesses and public officials including Farm Johns, Sweetness Cupcakes & Cakes as well as Go Country 105.1.

National Night out was original started nearly 33 years ago with a Neighborhood watch in Philadelphia, PA as a day to bridge the barriers between the community and the police department and today is celebrated the first Tuesday of August for most states nationwide (Texas is one of the exceptions in which National Night Out is celebrated the first Tuesday in October).

Arbor Day in Santa Clarita

Arbor Day came early to residents in Santa Clarita as people came out to Central Park to browse the selections of free trees and other services to improve their homes as well as the life of future generations.   The Weekend festivities commenced Saturday April 16th at 10 A.M and was a combination of a Home and Garden Show, Emergency Expo and more.
