“Mission Impossible” Review
The mission is possible for Tom Cruise in the latest Mission Impossible Fallout. This time Cruise must race against time to prevent a bomb from going off when the enemies attempt the impossible even putting the love of his life at risk in the end. The question is how will Cruise be able to save everyone in time.
At 2 hour 23 minute run time, the sixth installation in the Mission Impossible franchise is packed full of action, adventure and more as one sees nearly everything from fast cars to high flying sky dives by Cruise and of course the good old classic fist fights that has ones heart pumping as you sit on the edge of your seat wondering what is about to happen next. Overall, Cruise doesn’t disappoint and the continued on screen chemistry with Henry Cavill, Simon Pegg and Alec Baldwin is dynamic as each one provides a sense of urgency when one realizes that the next moment might be their last.
Of course the same iconic music from the original TV series, adds to the motivation as the composer escalade the conflict through fast paced scores and dynamic action. One knows that another fight scene is coming with the music picking up momentum and then slowing down or halting when all is calm again.
Ultimately, Mission Impossible Fallout which came out July 27 2018, is a film that all true fans must see. They won’t be disappointed either as it is filled with the same punch and pack as it’s predecessor films and is the perfect movie to set the summer off to a better start. The film took number one at the box office with a whooping 61.5 million for its debut weekend, making it Cruises second best opening in his career and the largest opening for any Mission Impossible film.
Mission Impossible Fallout is currently playing in a theater near you. See it today, one won’t regret it.
World Loves “Mummy”
Universal is on top for the Worldwide box office in its latest adaptation of the Mummy franchise starring Tom Cruise, Russell Crowe and Annabelle Wallis as the blockbuster brought in well over 174 million world-wide. Domestically, the film only brought in 32 million as more people flocked the theaters to see Wonder Woman for its second week at the box office.
The latest Mummy saga follows Cruise as Nick Morton, a treasure seeker in the Middle East, modern-day Iraq as he stumbles on to the long forgotten and erased tale of Princess Ahmanet (Sofia Boutella) and her jealousy that lead to her ultimate downfall. Inevitably, Nick ends up resurrecting Ahmanet who is in search of a mortal vessel to harness a god in order to rule the world. Now Nick has a choice to make to sacrifice himself either to save the world or cling to the darkness that harnessed Ahmanet.
The film also brings in a new character to the Mummy saga, Dr Jekyll (Russell Crowe) who ultimately wants to learn more of the mummy through nontraditional methods though Jekyll’s character is a foreshadowing of what is to happen to Nick’s character in the end, as his assistant Jenny (Annabelle Wallis) follows Nick to help him destroy the evil.
At an hour and fifty minutes, The Mummy will have new audiences revisiting the ancient legend of the dead in a new modern way. It’s a similar story line as the 1999 version with Brendan Frasier, but Universal Studios and Dark Universe has flipped the story around to show that even female mummies can be evil. The film is full of adventure, suspense and a slight hint of a love triangle this time with Nick being drawn to two women, though one is not by his own choice.
The Mummy came out in theaters June 9, and is currently playing in one near you.
Kong Dominates
The latest adventure of the legendary King Kong is sending crowds to the movies as its opening weekend brought in over 61 million domestically, sending last week’s Logan to number 2.
Kong: Skull Island introduces a new generation to the story before King Kong as explorers team up with military personnel to explore the not so mythical Skull Island. What they find is even greater than the giant ape that everyone fears.
At just under 2-hour run time, Kong stars Tom Hiddleston, the explorer and Brie Larson, the photojournalist, who find beauty in the land and Kong, while Lieutenant Colonel Packard (Samuel L. Jackson) seek to destroy the large ape, while awakening something even more dangerous that only Kong can destroy. Ultimately, the movie will have you marveling at the beauty of the island while fully cheering for Kong all throughout and make sure to watch all the way to the end as there is a closing scene to set up what is to come next in this franchise.
Other appearances include, John Goodman and John C. Reilly in very minor roles that add to the intensity of the island.
Kong: Scull Island came out in theaters March 10, 2017 and is currently playing in one near you. See it, you won’t regret it. Great original story to kick-start a new epic adventure for all.
“Star Trek” Review
Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana are back in the latest adventure of the U.S.S Enterprise to voyage even deeper into space, but this time, the crew finds themselves stuck on a faraway planet where their fight to get back to Earth is limited. Meanwhile Captain Kirk (Pine) is offered an admiral position with the fleet, pending their return from their last voyage, but is he willing to give up command of the enterprise and freedom of traveling anywhere to stay put in one place.
At 2 hrs, Star Trek- Beyond pushes its boundaries with a unique story line, based in part on the original, but with enough creative freedom to let the new franchise thrive on its own. Star Trek fans will not be disappointed and specifically with the loss of one of the original cast members, Leonard Nemoy, the film did an exceptional job of paying homage to him as well as the original cast in the story line. The film of course concluded with a dedication in the credits which read, “In Loving Memory of Leonard Nemoy” in addition to “For Anton”, for the young actor, Anton Yelchin, who played Chekov, that passed away just last month after being pinned by a car outside his driveway.
Star Trek opens in theaters Friday July 22, 2016 and is expected to be one of the top picks at the box office this weekend.

The fourth installment brings an all new cast as Jurassic World replaces the park with an amusement park complete with rides, shows and interactive experiences. Dinosaur trainer, (Chris Pratt) is perfecting his latest experiment of taming the vicious raptors and while scientists, headed by Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) are trying to lure more visitors to the park with the latest creation of a hybrid species of dinosaur, while getting close to her nephews, Gray and Zach, but when the hybrid dinosaur decides to take a dangerous turn, and put the whole park in danger, it’s up to Pratt and Howard to team together and save the day as well as realize they work better together as a team.
