Riverside Welcomes the Dog

This year asian pacific culturals had booths for people to learn a little more about their culture.

And one could pose with traditional garments and parasols.

Young kids and adults demonstrated various karate techniques.

And Hawaiian dancers demonstrated Hula techniques

A Tea tasting for residents to see the art of tea drinking.

Wells Fargo was in the spirit for the Year of the Dog with lovable dog banks for people to take home.

And dog adoptions were the highlight of the event also to commemorate the Year of the Dog and to help lovable friends find forever homes.

In the parade of nations, Taiko drums by the UC Riverside students kept the beat as different nations walked down the street with firecrackers chasing out the demons.

Women with parasols demonstrated traditional garb that women wear.

Each color signified a different culture.

Riverside Welcomes The Rooster

At 10 o’clock, the parade of nations marched down market street toward the days festivities.

All Asian Cultures were encouraged to come out and take place in this momentous occasion.

Even the taiko drummers marched regally down the street demonstrating their talents.

And of course the Riverside fire department was there to show their support and keep every one safe.

Vendors including Farm Fresh to you, were along the street entising people to try their services.

While others offered free things like face painting for all.

This year markets the year of the Fire rooster and it just so happens to fall on the first official day of the new year.

Red lanterns lined the street for the occasion.

And of course asian decor displayed at the booths.

Sample of tea made while you waited at the tables.

And Origami was demonstrated for those brave enough to try.

Residents got into the spirit by embracing their own asian roots including asian pacific islanders with their ukeleles.

Residents could even learn chinese as well as japanese chalegraphy.

And the CHP kept us safe by reminding that they are our friends.

In the children’s villiage, there was a petting zoo where children could enjoy a little animal therapy.

And anyone could create their own doll, necklace or lantern in the arts and crafts area.

The sun began to set around 6 and the lanterns illuminated the streets to get ready for the fireworks at 645.

8th Annual Fireworks in San Pedro

This year’s 8th Annual Cars and Stripes Forever on the Port of Los Angeles brought the community to San Pedro on Friday July 1, 2016 for a night of classic cars, music and of course a complete fireworks show.

The fireworks included various pop and patriotic songs that were fitting for the lights over the port of Los Angeles.

There were also various musicians who performed between 5 and 9 p.m as spectators viewed the classic cars displayed below.

And a dancing water fountain kept children entertained all night long with lights triggered to various patriotic tunes.

Riverside welcomes “The Monkey”

Festivities start early in Downtown Riverside as the 6th annual Asian Pacific Lunar New Year kicks off the Year of the Monkey on Saturday January 31, 2016. Roughly 70 thousand people turned out for the celebration which included a Parade of Nations, opening welcome, entertainment throughout the streets as well as food and culminating with fireworks to officially kick of the New Year.

The Year of the Monkey official starts on the first new moon between January 20 and February 15 and concludes with the Lantern festival in Los Angeles on March 5, 2016. Stay tuned for the conclusion coming in a few weeks.

6th Annual Fireworks in Eagle Rock

Independence day came early to the city of Eagle Rock as residents came out to the Eagle Rock Recreation Center on Sunday June 26th, 2015 to enjoy a live concert and fireworks display at dusk. The Neighborhood City Council and Congressman Jose Huizar introduced the live entertainment to the thousands that gathered on the hill and in the park to listen to “Elvis” as they waited for the much anticipated fireworks that had only been brought back to the city a few years prior.

In addition to music and fireworks, there was also a classic car show, where residents could marvel over the cars.
