“Dory” On Top

In the latest adventure of Marlin, Nemo and Dory, audiences receive a glance into Dory’s childhood in Disney Pixar’s Finding Dory.  Voiced again by comedian/talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, the forgetful blue fish, Dory suddenly remembers her parents and comes to the realization that she misses them as she goes on an all new adventure to rediscover where she came from.

But she’s not alone.   Marlin the clown fish, voiced by Albert Brooks along with his son, Nemo (Hayden Rolence) team up to help her remember her task as they travel to California to find her family.  Along the way they encounter possessive sea otters as well as a scheming Octopus (Ed O’Neill) whose only mission is to be transferred to an aquarium where he’ll be safe from the ocean, the movie will have audiences of all ages laughing and routing for the little blue tang fish to finally find her mom and dad.

With a running time of 1 hour and 45 minutes, Finding Dory is a heart warming sequel about what it truly means to be a family especially when one can’t always remember.  The film definitely has Disney on top bringing in over 136-million and making it the 11th Disney movie to claim the number one spot at the box office.

In addition, the added short, Piper, about a little seagull learning to feed for itself on the tough sandy beaches had kids and adults fully engaged in the little bird’s struggle and proves once again, pictures are just as important as verbal words to get the point across on the big screen.

Finding Dory opened in theaters Father’s Day Weekend June 17 and is currently playing in one near you.  See it, it’s just as good as the original Finding Nemo, which came out in Summer of 2003.

“Alice” Is Back

In the latest installment of “Alice Through The Looking Glass“, the Walt Disney film takes places three years after Alice turns down Hamish’s proposal, and she returns from captaining her father’s ship, she returns home and is immediately presented with a new problem as she finds out her mother is about to give her share of her father’s company and boat over to Hamish, in an effort to save their house.  Unwillingly to let go of the last piece of her father, Alice is drawn back to Wonderland this time through a mirror as she discovers the Mad Hatter is in trouble.  Now it’s up to Alice to find out exactly what happened to the Hatter’s family and through a time traveling device, race to save them and get back before “time” stops forever in Wonderland.

“Alice Through the Looking Glass” brings back the original cast including Mia Wasikowska as Alice, Johnny Depp as the Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter as Iracebeth (Red Queen), Anne Hathaway as Mirana (White Queen) and of course, Alan Rickman, (who passed away the beginning of the year) as the voice of Absolem and adding to the cast this time, Sacha Baron Cohen as “Time”.

Overall, the film has action, adventure and suspense as Alice is reminded that the impossible is possible, though one can not change time, it doesn’t mean that one can’t use the past to learn from and figure out how to correct the future.  At an hour and 53 minutes, it’s familiar story line will have audiences rooting for Alice and the Hatter as she discovers the truth about herself and her friends in Wonderland.

Alice Through the Looking Glass opens in theaters, Friday, May 27 and is currently playing in a theater near you.  See it, you won’t be sorry.

Disney Sets Record- Captain America

Disney has reached the 1 Billion dollar mark in just over 128 days concluding with its latest Marvel Film, Captain America: Civil War.  The blockbuster follows the team of Avengers in their latest fight against each other, especially when the United Nations force the super heroes to limit their effects on the world to only being called upon in extreme situations.  But the heroes are divided on whether or not leaving the saving to the UN is such a good idea and thus the Civil War begins.  The two sides, headed up by Iron man and Captain America leave for some powerful fight sequences as well as witty bantering back and forth until they come to some kind of understanding.

At 2 and a half hours, Captain America: Civil War introduces a whole new team and challenges along the way.  It is very much entertaining to the eye and ultimately leaves the viewer wanting more every second that goes by.  Captain America stars a line up of well-known actors including, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America as well as Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Paul Bettany as Vision, Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlett Witch, Paul Rudd as Antman and Emily Vancamp as Sharon Carter and of course, no Avenger film is complete without a cameo by creator Stan Lee.

Thus far, Captain America has earned just shy of 200 million domestically and is currently playing at a theater near you.  See it soon, you won’t regret it.
