“Endgame” REVIEW
It’s the end of the saga where all realms of the Marvel Universe face a ultimate choice after Thanos wiped out half of the Earth in the previous Infinity War. Now time is of the essence literally to see if the remaining Avengers can correct things and set it on a better path for the future.
At a 3 hour runtime, thus the longest Marvel film yet, Avengers Endgame is packed with everything the long running saga has put together and it is sure to make the diehard enthusiasts tear up as predictable reunions happen at the most opportune moments.
Of course no Marvel film would be complete without the comic legend himself as mastermind, Stan Lee’s cameo had audiences cheering with his inclusion for the epic finale. The known face to the MCU franchise has been known for his witty cameos in every Marvel movies since the beginning.
Coming from a long line of nearly 22 movies, the film reunites fan favorites including Robert Downey Jr as Ironman, Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as the electrifying Thor, Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel who just was introduced less than two months ago with her spin off, Benedict Cumberbatch as the timely Dr. Strange as well as the witty, Guardians of the Galaxy team headed by Starlord (Chris Pratt). It’s the battle to end all battles as there is action from the first scene through the the last when ultimately the question is can they truly defeat Thanos?
Ultimately without giving too much away, the film does an exceptional job of tying in loose ends as well as even hinting as to the future of the MCU franchise as for several knowns, audiences will find out this truly is the “Endgame” for fan favorites.
That being said, one is definitely encouraged to see Avengers Endgame in a theater near you, as it is available not only on standard viewing but also in the highly anticipated IMAX theaters. One definitely does not want this movie to leave without seeing at least once and the opening weekend proved popularity as it topped the box office with well over a billion domestically.
Avengers: Endgame came out in theaters everywhere on April 26, 2019 and is a must see for all fans alike. It’ll hold your attention from scene one and though there is no end scene, there is something at the end that will have you intrigued to wait till the end credits even if just to listen.
“Infinity War” Review
When I’m done, half of humanity will still exist. Perfectly balanced, as all things should be… I hope they remember you. (Thanos)
The summer movie season is official on us with the blockbuster Avengers: Infinity War that swept the box office with Friday estimates alone totaling over 105 million domestically.
The Marvel film is a mash up off nearly every single superhero one could imagine including the latest “Guardians” who discover Thor while in space and discover that Thanos is threatening Earth by seeking to find the rest of the infinity stones hidden throughout the heroes which thus give some of them their powers. Now it is up to all of them, from Ironman to Black Panther to ban together and protect everyone. But the question is can they really do it in time?
At roughly 2 and a half hours, Infinity War is packed with so much information that the ending, without giving to much away, leaves audiences saying, “What?” Ultimately, its not the typically ending of a blockbuster, although the ending is a similar concept to that of another film that came out a few years ago, Batman v. Superman. All I can say is one has to watch it and make their own mind as to whether or not those are dead or if there’s a possibility of something else.
Overall, the film’s director’s Mark and Joe Russo did an exceptional job of combining all the stories into one and showing where they all fit on the Marvel Universe timeline. Nothing seemed rushed at all as the story flowed from the opening scene with Thanos and Thor where we see his plot to get all the stones to the obvious first encounter with Thor and the Guardians, which we saw in the trailer, and ultimately the question that we all had, how did they fit Black Panther and the country of Wakanda. In addition, the choice of Peter Dinklage to the Marvel cast was a smart move as he played Eitri, the one that one didn’t know if he was a villain or just trying to protect himself.
The film had so many comical lines, one can’t see it just once to get the full exposure to everything. The funnest scenes would have to be the self dialogue between Hulk/Bruce Banner, where Mark Ruffalo shined in his portrayal of someone who just can not change into his green self. Another breakthrough performance is the addition of Spiderman played by Tom Holland. Though he is just a kid, Holland has matured in his portrayal of Spiderman, taking Ironman’s (Robert Downey Jr.) advice and sticking to being the “friendly neighborhood spiderman” but when the neighborhood is threatened, he is finally brought on board as an Avenger. His comedy as an awkward kid shines on the scene as he really does come in handy when the other more experienced heroes start to fall.
Overall, Avengers: Infinity War came out this weekend on April 27 and is definitely worth seeing at least once on the big screen. One won’t regret it but it will leave you wanting more as it has unanswered questions that we’ll have to wait for the next Avengers movie to hopefully answer them.
Disney Sets Record- Captain America
Disney has reached the 1 Billion dollar mark in just over 128 days concluding with its latest Marvel Film, Captain America: Civil War. The blockbuster follows the team of Avengers in their latest fight against each other, especially when the United Nations force the super heroes to limit their effects on the world to only being called upon in extreme situations. But the heroes are divided on whether or not leaving the saving to the UN is such a good idea and thus the Civil War begins. The two sides, headed up by Iron man and Captain America leave for some powerful fight sequences as well as witty bantering back and forth until they come to some kind of understanding.
At 2 and a half hours, Captain America: Civil War introduces a whole new team and challenges along the way. It is very much entertaining to the eye and ultimately leaves the viewer wanting more every second that goes by. Captain America stars a line up of well-known actors including, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America as well as Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Paul Bettany as Vision, Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlett Witch, Paul Rudd as Antman and Emily Vancamp as Sharon Carter and of course, no Avenger film is complete without a cameo by creator Stan Lee.
Thus far, Captain America has earned just shy of 200 million domestically and is currently playing at a theater near you. See it soon, you won’t regret it.
Marvel overthrows Universal this weekend
For the first weekend in May, the latest Avengers sequel has stolen the crown from Universal’s Furious 7 coming in with the second highest opening
weekend box office total. The action heroes are back on stage this time to fight a robot villain named Ultron, who is determined to wipe out the Avengers all together.
The summer blockbuster reunites Robert Downey Jr as Ironman, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Muck Ruffalo as the Hulk, Chris Evans as Captain America Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye and James Spader as the Voice of Ultron and keeps you entertained from the first line to the last epic battle as the Avengers race to save themselves and earth from the clutches of Ultron.
At 2 hours and 21 minutes, it’s a movie is jam packed with ultimate 3D effects, fight scenes that are typical of superhero films, and even a hint of a romance looming, but don’t believe me, you’ve got to see it. I can assure you; it should not disappoint.
Avengers: The Age Of Ultron is currently playing in any theater near you and its first weekend alone, brought in over 187 million while Furious 7 came in third with just over 6 million.
