Remembering Veterans in Canoga Park

LAPD Motorcyclists lead the parade down Sherman Way beginning at Owensmouth.

This year’s parade was dedicated to “Remember the fallen”

Naval dressed in white preceded the banner as the parade kicked off promptly at 11 following the Memorial Day ceremony.

The Fire department as always concludes the parade with sirens and the horn to the fallen.

And Congressman Brad Sherman waved to the spectators that came out to celebrate an important cause.

Cars dressed with patriotic banners represented various groups involved in this year’s parade.

The parade’s theme is always the same as what the day is meant for to “Honor All Veterans”.

ROTC students marched regally for those fighting in the war today.

Patriotic dogs marched as a symbol that even four legged animals serve in miraculous ways.

Uncle Sam also made his appearance as a icon of America.

A miniature horse carried individuals down the street most regally.

And as always the girl scouts represented various ages from daisies to cadets.

High school bands played patriotic tunes down the street as the audience watched in enjoyment.

Old time cars drove and were carried on trailers decorated in red, white and blue.

Spanish equestrian riders celebrated their heretage as America uniquely recognizing all ethnicities.

The Salvation Army Band as always was present in the parade.

And of course a flyby is always a must at the parade, no matter how small but significant.

28 Years of Patriotism in Canoga Park

The 28th annual Memorial parade in Canoga Park followed a ceremony at 10 o’clock in which congressman honored all veterans on their special day.

And what parade wouldn’t be complete without motorcycle veterans.

Boy and Girl Scouts alike marched in the beginning learning the value of the men in uniforms.

Local Veteran Associations of course were also present.

Veterans like this WWII vet, road in style in one of the many classic cars down the street.

Other Vets were recognized from the street by congressman Brad Sherman.

Classic T-Birds from the 50’s road down the street for parade goers to admire.

Bands including Taft High School, Canoga Park High and a few other local bands performed patriotic melodies.

Of course Ronald McDonald had to show his patriotism.

A Miniature horse drawn carriage lead the way down the steet.

And other forms of military who carried the flag.

And Uncle Sam had to make his appearance known.

As Miss Liberty marched down the street by his side.

And Classic Model T’s were decked out in red, white, and blue.

Equestian riders equally showed their patrioticism while riding with the American Flag.

Stunt cars showed off their tricks in the back of the parade.

128 Annual Tradition in Pasadena, Calif.

This was one of the floral sweepstake winners.

Horse drawn carriages brought in individuals to the parade including the mayor of Pasadena, Terry Tornek

This won the tournament special trophy for its use of floral decor.

This year’s grand marshall was three olympians including Greg Louganis (pictured here) as well as Janet Evans and Allyson Felix.

This year’s royal court includes Queen Victoria, Princess Shannon, Princess Maya, Princess Audrey, Princess Autumn and Princess Emi, who were crowned at a coronation ceremony month before the parade.

This delightful float won the Queen’s trophy for this year’s parade.

And this unique dragon took the princesses trophy.

This year’s rose bowl fell on the same day as the rose parade where Penn State competed against USC for the title.

The Trojans later went on to win the Rose bowl in a competative game against Penn State.

This unique float took the Leishman trophy after the 1920 Tournment of Roses President.

On band marched their way with down the parade route as toy soldiers.

South Pasadena took the Grand Marshall’s trophy for their rendetion of the “tortuise and the hare”.

And this took the director’s award for its unique floral arrangement.

The 84th Annual Christmas Parade Tradition in Hollywood

On the first Sunday after Thanksgiving, residents gather on Hollywood Blvd ever year to start the Christmas Season with the Annual Hollywood Christmas Parade.

This year, the grand marshall is the Las Vegas magician’s Penn & Teller and there was lots of crowd interactions with one of the hosts, Montel Williams as they performed Christmas themed tricks, like the one below.

Public officials and celebrities alike rode in cars down the boulevard, as giant balloons of famous characters had residents cheering for their favorites.

Leading the way for the parade was Hollywood’s local fire department as well as the US Marine Corp. Band.

Marching bands played christmas songs in front of the grand stand.

Various balloons like the cat in the hat, glided down Hollywood blvd beginning at Orange street.

Movie cars like the Jurassic Park suv complete with a dinosaur marveled crowds.

Public officials and celebrities road in classic cars and waved to the public.

A Japanese dance troop enriched the parade bring culture to the Hollywood Christmas Tradition

The parade concluded at 8:30 with the visit of santa welcoming the holiday season to So Cal.

Near 30 Years of Christmas Fun in Chatsworth

On Dec. 7, 2014, residents of Chatsworth enjoyed music, fun floats and children that marched down Devonshire street from Topanga Canyon Boulevard toward Mason Street ending at the street festival on Canoga, between Devonshire and Lassen.
