It’s no surprise that Warner Brothers true life story about the heroic landing in what was called the “Miracle On The Hudson” has brought fans out for the opening weekend as its domestic total hits 35 million.
The dramatic true story of Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenburger relives the first ever forced water landing due to bird strike that had the air flight officials trying to figure out how this all happened successfully.
The film stars actor Tom Hanks, who truly encompasses the role of Sully both as a hero as well as a man plagued with grief and emotion as the investigation following the landing threatens to destroy his 40 year career as a pilot. Costars include, Aaron Eckhart as first officer, Jeff Skiles, Laura Linney as Sullenburger’s wife and includes several cameos from news officials including Katie Couric as well as the real life passengers and Captain “Sully” himself.
Shot with IMAX cameras, Sully captures every heart pounding moment as has audiences experiencing the plummet into the frigid waters in 208 seconds.
Sully came out September 9 2016, a little more than seven years after the real heroic event and coincides with the 15th anniversary of the 9-11 events. It’s currently playing in a theater near you.
