DC’s criminal based super hero team is back will all guns blazing. This time their mission is to go after the Starfish project. What it takes now is more “bad guys” to do the right thing and stop the giant that is wrecking havoc on the city, Corto Maltese. The team is put together by a team of American Government operators headed by Amanda Waller (Viola Davis), who of course has a hidden agenda which the Peacemaker is in on as he ultimately turns on the squad when the time is right. It’s not enough though as Harley Quinn along with Bloodsport, Rat catcher 2, Polkadot man and and King Shark band together to cleverly save the day in their own quirky way.
The summer blockbuster brings back Margot Robbie to reprise her role as Harley Quinn. Ultimately, she exceptionally portrays the manipulative, crazy “Daddy’s Little Monster” that we all know and love. Additionally, the voice of King Shark is reprized by Sylvester Stallone as his quirky hunger talk will leave audiences wondering who he will eat next.
Joining the cast is John Cena, who also does a great job as the good guy that loves to turn bad. Idris Elba also joins as the rough natured Bloodsport who ultimately is just trying to do the right thing and save his troubled daughter as he reluctantly joins the team.
Two new faces include the actors playing both Rat Catcher 2 (Daniela Melchior) as well as Polka dot Man (David Dastmalchian). One must say the combination of acting that was used in this film displayed a unique chemistry as each brought a different dynamic that ultimately made the movie as action packed as it is.
There was also a surprise twist that one would not see coming as Rat Catcher 2 was introduced. It brought an additional element of animals training as the writer used that element as a solution to the problem. The graphics were spectacular, though some scenes are definitely not for all ages. Thus the reason fro the R rating. That being said, this new Suicide Squad is definitely an improvement to the 2016 version. It created a better storyline, more action and better graphics all around.
Suicide Squad came out in theaters August 6 and is currently playing in a theater near you.
