“Sound of Hope” REVIEW

Carrying after it’s predecessor, Sound of Freedom which debuted last year on Fourth of July, Sound of Hope gives a voice to the adoption and fostering system in the States. When one church makes the bold move of adopting some of the most troubled kids, it is that move that saves roughly 77 children and gives them loving families. The journey isn’t easy, but where this is hope there is a chance and the film beautifully demonstrates that in Possum Trot, Texas.

Sound of Hope stars, TV Star Nika King as the wife of the reverend of the church and she does an exceptional job of conveying the raw emotion of a woman who uses the motivation of her mother’s last words as she makes the bold move of inquiring about adoption. She also has tremendous chemistry with 13 Hours’ Demetrius Grosse who handles the challenge of managing a church and family all while taking in even more troubled children. One thing hold’s true to the message, never underestimate the power of God.

Finally, the film would not be complete without Lost star Elizabeth Mitchell, who does an exceptional job of trying to remain impartial while secretly routing the small town on as she places child after child. Mitchell definitely uses her “Lost” nature to take each case with the same emotional tug that will have audiences bawling their eyes out.

All in all at 2 hour 7 minute run time, Sound of Hope is equally as powerful as Sound of Freedom was last year. It will bring tears to your eyes and smiles on your faces as you watch hope transform with each of the 77 children saved from the foster system. Movies don’t come around with such an inspiring message which makes seeing this movie all that more important on the big screen. It came out July 4th, 2024 and is currently playing in one near you. Let’s be the change we want to see happen and bring light to such an important story.
