“Sonic 3” REVIEW

Sonic is back as is his infamous catch phrase, “gotta go fast”. This time in his newest adventure, he meets another hedgehog unlike himself, who’s power is fueled by revenge. Now it’s up to Sonic and his friends to stop this menace named Shadow, before the world is destroyed again.

At an hour 49 minutes, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, is by far the best sequel yet. It has everything that ultra fans are going to grapple on including fantastic elements of the game itself, as well as even a glimpse of another Japanese manga franchise. Furthermore in this sequel, Sonic comes full circle with his own emotions as he too faces a choice of revenge or forgiveness.

The film reunites voice actors, Ben Schwartz as Sonic, Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Tails, and Idris Elba as Knuckles as well as the addition of Keanu Reeves as Shadow. All do an exceptional job bringing the beloved video game to life even more in this third action packed film.

Additionally, James Marsden returns as “Donut Lord” Tom as well as Tika Sumpterr as wife, Maddie, and of course, no Sonic film is complete with out Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey). One has to give a shout out to Carrey as he is phenomenal as he not only plays one Robotnik, but two. The special effects and camera moves that was done to bring this to life is for sure exceptional. Not to mention, double the fun, double to comedy and ultimately double the mischief for Sonic and his team to conquer, even in swaying the younger Robotnik to join sides.

All in all, Sonic 3 which came out in theaters December 20th is a film for the whole family. It will have one diving into the video game in new and creative ways that one won’t see coming until it happens. It will have you laughing and on the edge of your seats as you follow Sonic on his latest and greatest adventure.
