The most talked about news story of the 21st century is making a splash on the big screen. Universal Pictures’ She Said follows the investigation behind the Harvey Weinstein allegations and the journalists that put their heart and soul on the line all in the name of truth.
She Said stars Oscar nominee Carey Mulligan and Primetime Emmy nominee Zoe Kazan as the dynamite New York Times duo who managed to record the heroic story of the women involved in the sexual harassment scandal. All in all, it was a perfect choice as far as casting as both add the passion and determination that truly makes an exceptional investigative journalist. Equally, their editor in chief (Patricia Clarkson) captures the power and influence of knowing when a story is ready and challenging every last bit of detail right down to the nitty gritty. Finally the icing on the cake to the powerful investigative team is Andre Braugher who equally has a knack for challenging a subject when all they want is the twisted truth.
In the end, what one has is 2 hours 6 minutes of pure truth centered at the heart of Hollywood Scandal. Ultimately, one might consider She Said to be right up there with another well known journalism movie, All The President’s Men. Between the exceptional casting, powerful tearjerking story and fabulous, realistic cinematography, it’s no doubt sure to be the talk of anyone who longs to know the real truth. It’ll also be interesting to see just how this powerful movie fares with the upcoming awards season.
For now, She Said came out in theaters November 18, 2022 and is currently playing in one near you.
