Bill Batson is back and he’s not alone. When he shared his powers with his friends, he created a team of superheroes. The only thing is ow the gods are angry. They want their power back in order to save their universe. Now it’s a battle of wits to see who will be strong enough to get that power.
All in all, Shazam! Fury of the Gods is a fun sequel to the original. It shows the awkward teenagers attempting to change the world, though the world dubs them as the fiascos, because all they see is destruction.
Zachary Levi and Asher Angel are back as Shazam and as always do a phenomenal job portraying both Billy Batson and Shazam. Additionally Jack Dylan Grazer and Adam Brody return as Freeman both child and superhero. The chemistry between just these two characters is enough to keep audiences glued as you add the other 4 super heroes to the mix. It gives you that sense of adventure while watching awkward teenagers trying to make a difference.
Joining the cast, of course are the Gods: Anthea (played by West Side Story’s Rachel Zegler) , Kalypso (as Lucy Liu) and Hespera ( as Helen Mirren). The casting choice, while experience is very wide spread, it shows a great deal of strategy. Each actress adds just another element that makes their characters that much intriguing to watch.
Ultimately at 2 hour, 10 minute run time, Shazam: Fury of The Gods will take you on a battle to see just who is a god with a surprise visitor that will make everything right in the end. It’s currently playing in theaters as it opened March 17, 2023. It’s a good vision for the future of the DC Universe.
