“Saturday Night” REVIEW

Let’s go back to 1975 as the crazy bold twenty-year olds take a leap in the future by introducing the first ever Saturday Night Live. The film captures all of that emotion and more as it is a race against time to finalize the firs. “script” and convince NBC to take a chance that will change history.

Starring well known actors including The Fabelman’s Gabriel LaBelle who ultimately spearheads the challenge of trying to book and keep young comedians on the line up. LaBelle truly captures the spirit of Lorne Michaels in a way that audience yearn to see and laugh along with the comedy on screen. Similarly JK Simmons and Willem Dafoe round out the cast as the older studio mogels which LaBelle must prove that the young comedians truly have a show worth watching.

All in all, at an hour 45 minute runtime, Saturday Night is a fitting tribute to the original crew that worked tirelessly to make the real life SNL what it is today. It’s a film that will have older crowds reminiscing over the past and will welcome younger ones into what it took to make change and create greatness.

The film comes out everywhere in theaters Oct. 11th, but one might be able to catch it now in limited theaters near you.
