“Peppermint” Review

Jennifer Garner takes matters into her own hands in the latest action thriller, Peppermint that has audiences seeing her in her darkest light.

After the tragic deaths of her husband and daughter on her daughter’s birthday, Garner has nothing to lose as she seeks to provide justice to a unjust community of criminals and she truly excels as she captivates the audience in the stunning storyline and action packed film.    Coming from her previous roots in the TV series Alias, Garner picks up where she left off showing that she means business, especially when trying to prevent another tragedy from happening to someone else.

The story as a whole is exceptionally original, though one might compare it to that of the film Trilogy, Taken but through the eyes of a female vigilant.  That being said there are a few surprise moments including that of when Garner actually shows up to invoke justice on the criminal.

That being said, there is a slight element of racism, given the fact that nothing is said that the criminals are really criminals but it seems she is only going after a stereotype based on who was responsible for the deaths of her family.  One might also compare the film to that of Crash for this race element and the idea that people aren’t always what they seem.

Ultimately at an hour forty two minute runtime, Peppermint is an action packed movie that will have one on the edge of their seats wondering what Riley North will do next.  The film came out in theaters September 7, 2018 and is currently playing in a theater near you.
