It’s the story behind the atomic bomb that devastated Hiroshima and ultimately stop World War II and now its being shown at the theater near you as Oppenheimer is finally released.
All in all, the film does contain a very powerful storyline as Cillian Murphy, exquisitely portrays such an important historical character. The film at three hour run time, dives into the expository look at just how Oppenheimer and his team of scientists, succeeded in creating such a devastating machine. The only thing is the film is more centered around the interrogation after the explosion that is used to further convict Oppenheimer, rather than to thank him for bringing the U-S soldiers home safe.
In addition to Cillian Murphy, the film also stars Ironman‘s Robert Downey Jr, as well as Emily Blunt, Fighting with my Family‘s Florence Pugh and Matt Damon, all of who did an exceptional job, given the content.
That being said, the film will keep true history fans pondering even after the film is over, however due to the deep historical content and prolonged expository, the film may not be for everyone. Additonally, viewer discretion must be advised as the film does use Oppenheimer’s love affair to further tarnish his reputation. Thus, the film is also rated R for moderate sexual scenes and nudity which one might question as to why the director had to go that far. The scenes were almost too much of a distraction at some points, where audiences could easily get lost as to what is ultimately going on.
Oppenheimer came out in theaters July 21, and is currently playing in a theater near you.
