“Onward” REVIEW

It’s a tale of two brothers who decide to go on an epic journey in hopes of seeing their long lost father one last time. The question is will they be able to get the one thing that they need to enable the stone and what will happen to them once they do.

Disney Pixar’s Onward stars the voice talents of Spiderman‘s Tom Holland as the younger less confident brother and Chris Pratt as the older, clumsy brother who fears nothing. On Ian’s (Holland) birthday, their mother (voiced by Julia Louis Dreyfus) decides to give one last present from their father, a wizard staff which with the right magic sets them on the journey of a lifetime, but only if the magic is done right.

Overall, Onward brings modern day family dramas to that of a mythological family as all the creatures of myth now live together in a suburban community. The writers do an exceptional job of capturing that type of lifestyle that an audience can definitely relate to with regards to all sort of family dramas.

Additionally, the film is beautifully animated with such techniques that fully captivate the wonder of magic that the creatures have left behind for future technology. Moreover, there’s an underlying message that is at the heart of the story and this is to not forget about the roots of history as that might be the only thing to save us in the long run.

Disney’s Onward came out in theaters March 6, 2020 and is currently playing in one near you. For a truly unique storyline, you don’t want to miss the story that will bound families together with the power of love and protection.
