The classic 1922 film about the affair of a young woman and her vampire is envisioned on the big screen in Roger Egger’s Nosferatu.
The film stars Lily-Rose Depp in what is sure to be one of her most intense roles yet. She captures the nuance of a young woman, stricken with these dreams of a monster who takes an unusual liken to her. When she gets married, those dreams intensify and she instantly finds herself in fear for the man she loves especially when he is sent away to pursue an investment of his life. Now it’s up to her to save everyone even if it means sacrificing her own life in the process.
Nosferatu also stars actors including Nicolas Hoult, Willem Defoe, Aaron- Taylor Johnson and Bill Skarsgard, all of whom do an exceptional job of capturing the sense of Nosferatu for a new audience.
The film, set in the 1800’s Germany also does a great job of acting as a period piece, with exquisite costumes and set pieces including the use of one of the oldest Castles in the real life Transylvania. Finally, as a fitting tribute to the original, Egger does use a bit of black and white scenes throughout to further enhance the story and bring audiences into the world of Nosferatu.
Nosferatu came out in theaters December 24 and is currently showing in one near you.
