Maddie has never wanted to get to close in a relationship: sticking exclusively to one night stands. When her car gets repoed by the bank due to overdue property taxes, Maddie must resort to an intriguing online offer. That is, helicopter parents looking for someone to date their 19 year old son before he starts college. What Maddie doesn’t realize is this deal, proves harder than it seems as she soon starts to learn more about herself and what she is really doing with her life.
No Hard Feelings is your typical romantic comedy at the core. It definitely shows Hunger Games’ Jennifer Lawrence in a whole new life as she tries to connect with someone over a decade younger than her. It’s a sweet story with very strong profanity and sexual innuendoes which may not be appropriate for some younger audiences. Aside from that and one completely nude scene, the movie does feel pretty mild for an ‘R’ rated movie.
Finally the film stars “relative new to film” actor Andrew Barth Feldman as Percy, the introvert 19 year old with a real reason to his shyness. All in all, both Maddie and Percy have great growth in this film as they don’t end in the same way one would imagine. That being said, No Hard Feelings is definitely a movie one should at least see once, especially if you can look past the profanity and brief nude scenes.
The movie came out in theaters June 23, 2023 and is currently playing in one near you.
