“Lyle Lyle Crocodile” REVIEW

The beloved children’s book by American author Bernard Waber is now a beloved movie.

Lyle, Lyle Crocodile stars Shawn Mendez as the voice of Lyle, the fun loving, singing crocodile destined for fame. When ex circus star, Hector, (Javier Bardem) discovered the little singing crocodile at an exotic pet store, all he can think about is the money. The question is will lyle be able to fight the stage fright that has been brewing in him since childhood and if he doesn’t whats next for the singing crocodile from New York City.

At an hour forty five minute runtime, Lyle, Lyle Crocodile is a surprise musical of epic portions. The talent and singing definitely puts the movie on the same level of past musicals such as The Greatest Showman. The music carries the storyline in such a way that captivates the audiences as they completely fall in love with Lyle.

This combined with the stunning acting talents of Bardem as well as Constance Wu, Scott McNairy, Brett Gelman and young Winslow Fegley as the little boy who befriends Lyle after his original owner disappears, all of this together makes the movie fun and entertaining for all ages.

Additionally, being based on the book, it’s refreshing to see original artwork used throughout the film as Lyle finds his home and ultimately helps a mixed family communicate in ways that will knit them together closer than ever before.

Lyle, Lyle Crocodile came out in theaters October 7th and is currently playing in a theater near you.
