Thor is back and this time he gets a surprise when the children of Askgard are taken and the “New” Mighty Thor is his ex-girlfriend Jane. All at once Thor is in an all new adventure between the love he lost and his duty to Askgard with Jane, the Valkerie and Gorg. The ultimate question though is will Thor really find what he has been truly looking for.
At an hour 58 minutes, Thor: Love and Thunder introduces newness to the once great Avenger as we see a more heart felt side to the great Thor. Chris Hemsworth returns as Thor as he is clearly on a journey to self discovery. This journey includes a brief encounter with The “Guardians” who help him in the beginning, but the real discovery is when Jane (Natalie Portman) returns and with it all the emotions that he had left behind in Thor Ragnarok.
All in all, this Thor while it may not be the greatest, does answer a lot of questions including showing a glimpse of just how Jane and Thor fell apart prior to Ragnarok. It’s a movie for a fan of the genre though there were some weak moments that had audiences trying to figure out what happened. That being said, the end closes up the new heartfelt Thor that is developing and will have audiences laughing and crying at the witty comedy that divulges in the last scene.
Lastly, Russell Crowe brings hints to a future of Thor when Thor steals Zeus’ lighting bolt in a very comical, lively manner. That being said, Thor: Love and Thunder is somewhat of an enjoyable film. There is not as much action, but it does show a bit of direction that the director might have for future Thor Movies.
Thor: Love and Thunder came out in theaters July 8 and is currently playing in one near you.
