“Killers of the Flower Moon” REVIEW

Based on the book by David Grann, Martin Scorsese brings the remarkable true story to life on the big screen. Killers of the Flower Moon paints the tragic tale of the Osage people who were ultimately lured to their death by the great white men who longed for their fortune.

The film stars Titanic’s Leonardo Dicaprio in what critics are calling his best role yet as he plays Ernest Burkhart, a war hero returning to Oklahoma to find a scheme of his rich Uncle in order to get richer. His Uncle, played by About My Father‘s Robert Deniro, convinces him to fall for one of the wealthy Native American women, similar to what many white settlers have done. But when the natives begin to die unexpectedly, some in the most brutal ways imaginable, and Burkhart’s wife Molly (Lily Gladstone) launches an all out investigation on the mysterious death, now it is time to decide who’s loyalty Burkhart really is for; his uncle or his wife.

At 3 hours and 26 minute runtime, Killers of the Flower Moon has a lot of meat, that will keep you truly invested in the film from the first scene on. From the native women who fall for the white settlers to the tragic way the men take advantage of the innocent, the film will have you fueled up with rage, especially when the FBI comes in and seemingly sweeps everything under the rug, so to speak.

It’s a not so friendly reminder of what we did to the first true Americans and should truly be remembered so that we don’t make the same mistake again. The actors as a whole did a phenomenal job of portraying such an important part of our American history that is just a little under 150 years old. There were also two surprise actors who made their appearances including John Lithgow and Brendon Frasier as the stunning FBI investigation got deeper into the fold.

Killers of the Flower Moon came out in theaters October 20th and is currently playing in one near you.
