“Journey To Bethlehem” REVIEW

It’s the greatest story ever told, brought live and musically to the big screen.

Journey To Bethlehem does a good job of sticking to the gospel as told by Luke while allowing audiences to see and feel what it might have been like for two young devoted Jews to go through the process of betrothal along with the ultimate act of faith when the angel Gabriel presents them with the unexpected “Good” news.

That being said, the actors as a whole did a phenomenal job. Zombie’s Milo Manheim steps into the inspiring role of Joseph and conquers it to the tee as well as developing a close relationship with “Mary” played by Fiona Palomo. Through both the musical numbers and dramatic scenes, both Manheim and Palomo take audiences on a journey that goes far beyond the bible, while still teaching the message of faith in the gospel.

Similar, the film also stars Uncharted’s Antonio Banderas, who captures the essence of King Herod, especially with the musical number, “It’s good to be king” that paints an iconic picture of one of the most feared characters in the New Testament. Finally, Rapper Lecrae as the angel Gabriel, does an exceptional job of showing is power, while also adding a little comedy to an important story.

All in all, Journey to Bethlehem is the perfect film for the whole family. It will have audiences, laughing and trying to sing along to classic Christmas carols and new age pop songs that creates a humanistic telling of the Greatest Story ever Told. It’s an instant Christmas Classic that one can see watching each holiday season. The tale came out in theaters Thursday evening on November 9th and is currently playing in one near you.
