Cecilia feels led to complete her vows and make a home in the Italian convent who’s mission is to take care of the elderly before they pass away. What Cecilia doesn’t know is there is something waiting for her there, something that will make her question everything as she comes to a scary conclusion.
At an 1 hour and 29 minute runtime, Immaculate gives new meaning to Immaculate conception. More suspenseful then disturbing, the film will have you on the edge of your seat waiting for the next jump scare. Madame Web‘s Sydney Sweeney does an exceptional job of capturing that suspense with her facial expressions and actions in a whole. It will leave you fully invested into Cecilia’s well being all the while wondering: Will she live or not?
Additionally the film stars Alvaro Morte as the Reverend who appears to befriend Cecilia especially with her struggle of the Italian language. Morte does a great job of capturing that element while living things to question as to his “real” intention. In the end, he to faces the same question as Cecilia: Will he live?
All in all, the film, provides a very twisted look into catholicism while using our imagination to create a true horror film. That being said, the film may not be for the young or young at heart, but if you wish to dare, see Immaculate only in a theater near you.
