“Heart Eyes” REVIEW

This Valentines Day couples need to beware, there’s a killer in town and it’s love that he is stalking.

At an hour and a half, run time, Heart Eyes will give Ghost Face a run for the blood as he attacks on the most romantic day possible. The film as a whole does an exceptional job of trying to be unique even in the shadow of its predecessors.

The casting choice satisfies with Alex Walker in his first feature length film and Lauren O’Hara also in her first feature length film. That being said, both Walker and O’Hara are quite naturals as their attempt to not “fall” for each other on the cheesiest day, though they do have to come up with a clever advertising campaign to sell the coveted diamond engagement. Both have baggage as they inevitably entice the Heart Eyes Killer.

The film does star a few known faces including Fast and the Furious’ Jordana Brewster as Detective Shaw and 90’s teen heartthrob Devon Sawa as Detective Hobbs. Of course, those that know Brewster’s backstory will find interest in the playful reference to the popular Universal Franchise.

All in all, Heart Eyes will have audiences on the edge of their seats as they try to anticipate every move. The director did a good job of not letting the plot be that predictable, though just wait to see who Heart Eyes really is.

The film came out just one week prior to Valentines Day and is currently playing in a theater near you. See it and make sure to beware especially if Love is in the air this Romantic weekend.
