Hilary Swank is the Good Mother. In a tale of things not being how it seems, Marissa is now faced with trying to figure out who murdered her son. She eventually forms a strange alliance with her son’s pregnant girlfriend, which as coincidence goes is the reason for Marissa abandoning her son in the first place. Her other son, “the good cop” seems to be on the right track but as things start to unfold, one realizes it’s not as perfect as one seems.
All in all, Swank is the ultimate role, as she uses her Alaska Daily skills to further investigate from all aspect as she is faced with the ultimate decision of duty to family or to the truth.
Additionally the cast wouldn’t be complete without the girlfriend (Olivia Cooke) who also does her own sense of investigating even when Marissa doesn’t want to yet. Ultimately the chemistry between Cooke and Swank offers that unique level of uneasiness of family being thrown together in the most unlikeness of situations.
And Transformers‘ Jack Reyner also rounds out the story where things are not as they seem. Reyner does a great job at playing the idol perfect son/ civic servant that no one expects to do the unexpected.
That being said, Good Mother came out in theaters Sept 1 and will have you glued in suspense as the outcome is not what one will expect. It’s currently playing in a theater near you.
