“Gigi and Nate” REVIEW

It’s a powerful true story about how an unconditional service animal can change the life of a young man destined to never walk again. Not only does the service animal change lives, but it also creates controversy by animal rights activists who can only see the animal being forced to work and not the long lasting bond that is being forged.

At an hour fifty four minutes, Gigi and Nate is a heart felt movie, packed with several messages including the most important one of all, the power of true service animals and it doesn’t show the animal being forced to do anything as it shows the patience and dedication of the family who desperately needs it.

The film stars a stellar cast including Jim Belochi as the father who tries to be there even when his job gets in the way. His wife and mother of their son, Marcia Gay Harden (Fifty Shades) shows a really backbone both during and after the events that led up to their son becoming a quadriplegic. Together the two carry the heart and emotion that drives the power Roadside Attractions film.

Finally the film stars Rocket Man’s Charlie Rowe, in what is sure to be his most emotional role yet. He fully captures the struggle of going from independent soon to be college freshman, to one who’s life changes when stricken with Meningitis. Additionally the connection between him and the capuchin monkey is exceptional and very much believable to the watching audience.

Gigi and Nate came out in theaters September 3 and is a must see in a theater near you.
