“Frozen 2” Review

Elsa and Anna are back in the much anticipated sequel that swept the box office with another all time best, with 127 million its opening weekend, nearly one week after one of the worst box office totals of the year.

Frozen 2 brings back all the same actors including Idina Menzel as Elsa, Kristen Bell as Anna, Josh Gad as the lovable Olaf and Jonathan Groff as Kristoff as they go “Into the Unknown” to discover what really happened to the King and Queen of Arandelle, which ultimately leads to just why Elsa has powers and what exactly she’s meant to do with them.

Altogether, writer/directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck have out did themselves from everything including the music as each song topped the originals and left the audience singing them to themselves as they walked out of the theaters. Even Kristoff’s song, “Lost In the Woods” was even more powerful then his previous one, “Reindeer are Better than People” as it showed that the silly iceman has matured into someone driven by a new love, one that holds us in suspense til the very end. And of course Olaf’s new song, “When I’m older”, while it was the silliest of all, it still had a less silly affect on the movie then his original song, “In Summer”.

Of course nothing can top the vocalist of Idina Menzel as her song, “Into the Unknown” not only revealed even more secrets about her past, but also elegantly showcased Menzel’s vocal range which left audiences going, “wow”. The first song of the movie, “Some Things Never Change“, lead by Kristen Bell, similarly set up the idea that change was coming with a mysterious voice that only Elsa could hear, but what they are soon to discover is that Arandelle might be in danger.

Now it’s up to both sisters to save not just Arandelle but the mysterious others in the woods , whom might be closer to the sisters than one may realize. The only question is will they be able to do so in time and if they did, what does that mean for Anna and Elsa.

At an hour 43 minute runtime, Frozen 2 will have audiences on the edge of their seats as an all new adventure unfolds with exceptional music and awesome storytelling that gives the original Frozen film a run for its money. The film came out in theaters November 22 and is currently playing in one near you.
