When a wounded ex war hero is suddenly enlisted to a special detail mission where he is to provide protection to a celebrity journalist in the very country that caused his injury, things could get a little tricky. The truth of the matter is, things are not as one would appear and instantly that same war vet is now seen providing protection to the one who allegedly is responsible. The question is what will happen next and more importantly will the famed journalist get the truth of a lifetime.
Freelance stars Fast’s John Cena in a role that he was ultimately born to play. Some how, Cena always manages to come out strong in roles like this and this film is no less of a disappointment. Ultimately he manages to capture the tough macho guy, which he carries without a hinch while having some what of a softer side, especially when seen with his family that he would do anything for.
Similarly the film stars Golden Globe Nominee Alison Brie who shines as she portrays what many in the news industry know to be the heart of investigative journalism in war struck areas. Brie ultimately shows just what it takes to get the story even coming from winning an award and having to resign for an alleged scandal of the truth. But when it all comes down to it, there’s nothing a journalist wouldn’t do to get the story.
Freelance came out in theaters October 27 and is a film that is sure to keep audiences attention from the opening scene on. It’s packed with action, as well as heart felt scenes and even a bit of comedy to lighten the mood for a serious story for the ages.
