The latest drama about the race to be the first to set foot on the moon is bringing audiences to the theaters in July as struggles at number 4 in the box office.
Based on the “alleged” publicity scheme of the White House trying to be the first on the moon, even if it means “faking it”, Fly Me To The Moon” does an exceptional job of capturing that naunce while leaving a little to their own imagination. The attention to detail in every seen makes it that much more real until things happen to clearly show it is not the moon.
The film stars Magic Mike‘s Channing Tatum, the man behind the great astronauts and Black Widow‘s Scarlett Johansson the PR woman hired to bring the publicity. All in all, the chemistry between Tatum and Johansson is similar to a Universal movie. In a since it’s sort Fall Guy meets Apollo 13. there is the same flirty banter between the two that leaves audiences wondering will they be together or is the mission enough satify their needs?
Furthermore, the film also stars Woody Harrelson and Ray Romano to round out the serious side with a bit of comedy naturally. It’s something that you wouldn’t not want to see especially given these two actors.
All in all, at 2 hour 10 minute run time, Fly Me To The Moon, set in the same era as the original Apollo 11 missions, the film carries the look and feel of the 70’s with of course an ode to the song which the movie is named for. It will keep you intrigued every minute even when it breaks out for no reason what so ever in pure comedy.
Fly Me To The Moon came out in theaters July 12, 2024 and is currently playing in one near you.
