“Don’t Worry Darling” Review

In a world that seems to be utopia, a mystery lies, but for Alice, all seems normal. She is the stereotype 50’s style housewife with only one job, to make her husband happy when he comes home. Things begin to unravel when another housewife ventures beyond the quiet suburban town and discovers something not quite normal.

At just over 2 hours, in her second full length film, director Olivia Wilde brings another side to the perfect utopian society, one that is a little less than perfect. Played by Fighting with my Family‘s Florence Pugh, Alice seems to be the only one to crack the code and figure out just what her husband is really doing outside their house.

All in all it’s the perfect casting choice as Pugh uses the same etiquette from past films to fully embrace this new role next to her husband “Eternal‘s” Harry Styles who equally has a knack for keeping secrets. The chemistry between Pugh and Styles are one might say steamy in places, which definitely validities the R rating.

Finally the casting wouldn’t be complete without a villain as Star Trek’s Chris Pine does an exceptional role in capturing this totally opposite. role to his other more notable ones. We definitely see a different side to Pine, though he still has a way of commanding authority in the suburban town and making it seem like its all for the better. In the end though is it really enough and can Alice really find where she is meant to be?

Don’t Worry Darling came out in theaters September 23, 2022 and is currently playing in one near you.
