Free Guy‘s Channing Tatum has a new mission, that is to escort a buddy’s war dog to the funeral after being killed in active duty. The problem is this dog is emotionally traumatized and is not to be trusted without proper protection.
M-G-M’s Dog explores the after effects that many of our nation’s service dogs must endure when they are no longer able to continue the fight. For a lot of these animals, p-t-s-d is a real thing as they turn to aggressive and uncontrollable behavior, which of course doesn’t end well for them.
In this hour forty minute movie, it’s the journey to the funeral that aids that deeper connection between the dog named Lulu and her unwilling companion and what ends up happening will cause one to leap for joy and shed a tear at the final climax.
All in all, Dog is a good change of pace for Tatum who more or less starred with few interactions of other actors. While there was still the occasional crude humor that Tatum is known for from his other films, this movie had a much deeper message. That message of healing from his own battle scars while aiding a defenseless animal who is going though similar trauma in her own way.
Dog came out in theaters February 18, 2022 and is currently playing in one near you.
