“Dead Reckoning: Part 1” REVIEW

Ethan Hunt has a new mission to find a dangerous key before the enemy does. What he doesn’t know is what the key will unlock. Never the less, he will do everything including jumping off a mountain on to a moving train in order to complete his mission.

At just 15 minutes short of 3 hour runtime- Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1 is an adventure over 5 years in the making. It of course stars legendary Tom Cruise, whose stunts are spectacular and will have audiences holding their breath every moment of the film. Similarly the film would not be complete without a few familiar faces returning, including Simon Pegg as his sidekick, Benji and Ving Rhames was his confidante and advisor, Luther.

Also returning to the cast, Cruise’s female spy companion, The Greatest Showman‘s Rebecca Ferguson who adequately complements Cruise on all accounts including also doing death defying stunts including jumping from car to car in a collapsing train wreck scene. Additionally Vanessa Kirby returns as the White Widow, thus adding that extra element of suspense throughout the action packed film.

The film also stars a few new faces including Marvel’s own Hayley Atwell who adds yet another mysterious lady with a hidden agenda. La Bamba‘s Esai Morales also makes a great villain to go up against Cruise in the end.

All in all, the seventh movie in the franchise is enough to have your heart racing and keep you on suspense up to the final cliffhanging moment. That being said, the film does satisfy enough curiosity to hold out until Part 2 coming next year. Though it does leave a few questions which one could expect to be answered in the next film.

Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1 came out in theaters July 11th and is currently playing in a theater near you.
