Everyone want’s their life long companion, but unfortunately not everyone is willing to wait. It’s the concept of having your own customized version to satisfy your every need, but what happens when that “personal companion” becomes a bit on the dangerous side? What are you to do next.
Heretic’s Sophia Thatcher does an exceptional job of maintaining that faithful companion while not realizing her emotions are in her programming. She also has a bit of an evolution from perfect companion to killer when pushed to the limits of her own safety. Similarly Hunger Games’ Jack Quaid does a great job of capturing that man with a deep secret, especially as we see the flash drive for the first time. We get the impression that he is for sure hiding something, but what?
It’s a secret that in the end he might be willing to die for to keep his own toy. All in All, Companion is a unique horror film that at first glance may just seem like your traditional romance. That being said, it’s anything but romance as the plot thickens when the “Sex toy” becomes a killer. The other plot twist is to realize that Thatcher is not the only robot on screen. It brings up the question of being careful with your fantasies as those fantasies can be come a nightmare.
Companion came out in theaters January 31 and is currently playing in one near you.
