“Challengers” REVIEW

It’s a competition both on the tennis court and off.

Zendaya‘s character lives to play tennis, it’s all she ever wanted, that is until two guys show up to vy for her heart. Fast forward 13 years, now She is married to one of the young men as she coaches him to the road to qualify for the Challenger. The one thing stopping him aside from his losing streak is the other man vying for his wife’s heart. With the competition intensifying so are feeling of overwhelming emotions.

At 2 hour 11 minute runtime, Challengers will have you reaching for a cold drink of water to cool down the heat between the three. Zendaya definitely has met her match as she also had a hand in the production behind. That being said, she does an adequate job given the topic. Additionally she must mesh with two guys, played by West Side Story’s Mike Faist and Cinderella’s Josh O’Conner. Both Faist and O’Conner do a great job of maintaining those emotions while fighting for the girl he loves.

All in all Challenger brings romance and sports together through many connections and will have one engaged from the first moment on. Though one might say the story could be a bit stronger, it’s good for what it is and still won’t disappoint. The film comes out in theaters April 26 and will be showing in one near you.
