97 Years on Christmas Tree Lane

Of course no festival is complete with out the one and only Santa Claus

Local Girl Scouts offered hot chocolate and other items to people as they shopped.

Located outside of the Altadena Public library, they had a booth with older books and dvds/cds for purchase on behalf of the library.

One of a kind candy creations enticed crowds.

Stunning glass jewelry and plates captivated crowds.

As always food trucks provide hunger relief as people shopped.

And Yetis could be adopted for a fun christmas option.

The stag was represented in these one of a kind wreath arrangements.

For those so inclined, they could be a part of the celebration by joining the select group of volunteers that decorated every year.

T-shirts could be purchased as a memorable keepsake.

Festive jewelry attracted all for the holidays.

Christmas at Stanton

Santa sat under the tree for kids to tell him what they want for Christmas.

As part of the theme of Christmas around the World, an Islamic woman wrote names in Arabic.

Kids could make their own stenciled dreidel ornament.

And Kwanzaa shared their celbration with the public.

On the other side, kids could created their own snowman.

And Librarians from the Stanton Public Library read Christmas stories to children.

Letters to Santa were collected from kids who wanted to wrote to the man.

Free cookies were available at the entrance to the Community Center.

Santa came into the center on the Polar Express Train that take kids on rides in the park on a daily basis.

Haunted Jailhouse In Santa Clarita

Creativity was alive at the Halloween Carnival as people came in unique costumes just as a lifesize rubic cube.

And children dressed in their favorite characters.

Various vendors like Firehouse subs handed out candy and other free items such as fire hats.

And games enticed kids such as this plink-o in which they played to see what type of candy they could win.

There was also a petting zoo where kids could give alpacas their own kind of treat.

In the costume contest, the costumes were heard to pick from this chiid dressed as the bride of chucky.

In the end the dragon costume took 3rd place in the 5-7 age group.

And The island from Disney’s Moana took first in the same category.

Minnie mouse drew attention away from the older kids.

And scooby doo searched for his own scooby snack.

Kids had fun trying to hit the target.

As local law enforcement go dunked by a pail of water over their head.

And various public service vehicles were on site for kids to get to see inside as they learn more about the uses of the vehicles.

31 Years Of Avocados in Carpenteria

Of course people were intrigued by the ever popular deep fried avocado.

People could sample homemade guacamole.

Or the could take home their own salsa plant.

There were also Avocado Shrimp cocktail for just seven dollars.

Avocado soap showed the various ways the the fruit can be useful.

Various vendors were set up along the festival selling unique one of a kind jewelry.

And a one piece jumpsuit by Bali Cremi had spectators marveling over the unique fashion.

Of course Avocado Oil was right at home at the festival.

Various types of avocados including the reed and daly were on display so one could see what types are grown in Carpentaria.

And hass avocados were available for purchase for as low as 6 for 10 dollars.

A giant fair wheel marked the entrance of the festival.

And slot cars keep children entertained for hours.

Local businesses like the Laughing Buddha Thrift benefited from the festival by opening its doors to people who walked down the street.

Handpainted portraits of avocados fit right in outside the thrift store for people to purchase.

Poppies Bloom in Lancaster

Fords and Chevys lined the lawn for the Classic Car Show.

And some even had their hoods up to check out the engine underneath.

Trucks and more in all colors.

And ones painted to stand out above the rest caught peoples attention.

The beauty of the car was alive at the festival.

Even the classic VW Bug made its appearance known.

Riverside Welcomes The Rooster

At 10 o’clock, the parade of nations marched down market street toward the days festivities.

All Asian Cultures were encouraged to come out and take place in this momentous occasion.

Even the taiko drummers marched regally down the street demonstrating their talents.

And of course the Riverside fire department was there to show their support and keep every one safe.

Vendors including Farm Fresh to you, were along the street entising people to try their services.

While others offered free things like face painting for all.

This year markets the year of the Fire rooster and it just so happens to fall on the first official day of the new year.

Red lanterns lined the street for the occasion.

And of course asian decor displayed at the booths.

Sample of tea made while you waited at the tables.

And Origami was demonstrated for those brave enough to try.

Residents got into the spirit by embracing their own asian roots including asian pacific islanders with their ukeleles.

Residents could even learn chinese as well as japanese chalegraphy.

And the CHP kept us safe by reminding that they are our friends.

In the children’s villiage, there was a petting zoo where children could enjoy a little animal therapy.

And anyone could create their own doll, necklace or lantern in the arts and crafts area.

The sun began to set around 6 and the lanterns illuminated the streets to get ready for the fireworks at 645.

Celebrating 5 years of Pets in Pomona

The Southern California Pet Expo returned to pomona for its fifth year, welcoming pet owners and their dogs to come out and sample all the newest and latest creations to make their lives a little bit better.

Hundreds of dogs were available at the two day Pet Expo in Pomona, ranging from the large breed to the smallest.

This African grey allowed people to learm more about the proper treatment of birds.

New to the expo this year, a rabbit shelter called Some Bunny Loves Me invited the public to view some of the quietest animals at the expo.

Interested in adoption, one could even hold this 2 year old black lionhead rabbit named Dot.

Of course fashion was a thing as venders had their own one of a kind pet bags for sale inside the buildings.

And pet tags could be made for your animals here at this station.

Cats were not excluded as there were tables set up to sell one of a kind cat toys.

And new this year, a design to go in your house to let you cat have its own fun by jumping on these cat posts installed in your house.

Bone Appetit was just one of the many food venders selling dog food and treats for your four legged creature.

including fresh made order meals that require preparation before feeling to you animal.

One foundation that wasn’t selling anything but trying to raise awareness for Senior pet owners to be able to keep their pets with them by providing needs including a food pantry, low cost spay and neuter as well as vaccinations, through donations and a silent auction.

And this welch corgi was trying to bring awareness to her disability,

Of course beagle and buddies were there with their animals trying to find homes.

And Kitty Devore, had cats looking for friendly faces and loving homes.

unique dog collars and leashes entices people to try one one.

And for the untrained ones, dog training classes were available.

And pet owners could bring their animals up to speed on their shots with low cost vaccinations.

And pet owners could bring home a little something for themselves and their pets by visiting booths like Essential Living Healthy who were selling bath salts and more.

BioDOGradable afforded a ecofriendly clean up kit for your dog.

And while owners shopped, large dogs socialized with the smallest dogs.

A month service, Surprise Pawty offered a way to get monthly items for your animal for only 35 dollars.

And a pet Attorney was even there, to talk about creating pet trust to protect your animal in case of emergency.

128 Annual Tradition in Pasadena, Calif.

This was one of the floral sweepstake winners.

Horse drawn carriages brought in individuals to the parade including the mayor of Pasadena, Terry Tornek

Director’s trophy inspired by Hawaii.

This won the tournament special trophy for its use of floral decor.

This year’s grand marshall was three olympians including Greg Louganis (pictured here) as well as Janet Evans and Allyson Felix.

This year’s royal court includes Queen Victoria, Princess Shannon, Princess Maya, Princess Audrey, Princess Autumn and Princess Emi, who were crowned at a coronation ceremony month before the parade.

This delightful float won the Queen’s trophy for this year’s parade.

And this unique dragon took the princesses trophy.

This year’s rose bowl fell on the same day as the rose parade where Penn State competed against USC for the title.

The Trojans later went on to win the Rose bowl in a competative game against Penn State.

This unique float took the Leishman trophy after the 1920 Tournment of Roses President.

On band marched their way with down the parade route as toy soldiers.

The reptiles took the founder’s award.

South Pasadena took the Grand Marshall’s trophy for their rendetion of the “tortuise and the hare”.

And this took the director’s award for its unique floral arrangement.

“Snowflakes” In Tarzana

The Snowflake festival was a way of bringing out the community of Tarzana to the Cultural Center for a Sunday afternoon of fun and games for the children while parents could do some holiday shopping in the park. The festival lasted from 10-4 and provided, arts and crafts, face painting and even snow in California.

Children could race down man made snow hills on sleds for just two tickets.

Or sip hot chocolate and snacks while enjoying the sun.

And of course Santa welcomed kids to have their pictures taken in his photo area.

And kids got creative with finger paints and a pickup truck.

A tutoring group offered its services for children who may need help in school.

And still more arts and crafts were available for kids to create masterpieces.

At just a dollar a ticket there were several activities to keep kids entertained while parents shopped.

Including a giant space ship bounce house that held their attention for hours.

There were various hand made jewelry gift sets

And at Ruth’s treasures, there were gifts for all ages featuring a variety of popular characters.

Halloween Classic celebrates 50 years

The beloved children’s classic, “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” is celebrating its 5oth year and Creature Features in Burbank is honoring the tale with their own gallery of handcrafted original art work that will be on display from Oct. 26 through Nov. 2.

Creature Features, located off Magnolia Blvd in Burbank specializes in celebrating “art from fantastic cinema”

This year to coincide with the 50th anniversary, they hosted a free art show tribute for Charles’ Schultz iconic “It’s the great pumpkin, Charlie Brown”.

There was the original film strip displayed alongside original artwork inspired by the comic strip.

As well as a hand crafted model of what the great pumpkin might look like.

This orginal black and white portrait truly stood out amongst its color competors.

Everything in the gallery was available for purchase for as little as a few hundred dollars.

Handcrafted models of the Peanuts gang in their halloween costumes had people in awe as they walked through the gallery.

still more items at the register could be purchased like this hardbound book of the beloved comic strip.

As well as parodies to the tale such as this halloween card of “Pumpkin Carols”.

in addition to the gallery, Creature Features also houses a variety of iconic monster including Frankenstein,

The monkeys from the The Great and Powerful Oz,

As well as iconic movie posters from the monsters.
