“Boogeyman” REVIEW

It’s the classic children’s worst fear come to life. Stephen King’s inspiring short story about the myth that parents used to tell the story is bringing fear to audiences everywhere in this roughly an hour and a half tale.

The film stars tv star Sophie Thatcher as a grief stricken teenager girl, who must face the world without her mother when tragically taken from her. Not only is it her but she has her younger sister, Sawyer (Vivian Lyra Blair) who is just at that age where she still believes in “monsters” under the bed. Their father (Chris Messina) distracted by a new potentially psychotic patient, doesn’t realize that the fantasies of his daughters may in fact by real.

The question is, will it be too late by the time he realizes what is actually happening.

The Boogeyman , at just PG13, will still have one jumping in their seats at the least possible moment. That being said, it might not be appropriate for the young at heart but those who love the idea of being scared will get a kick out of the suspenseful, thought provoking writing the King is known for. It’s throughly a sense of clean terror for true terror sense.

The film came out in theaters June 2nd and is currently playing in one near you.
