“Bonhoeffer” REVIEW

Dietrich Bonhoeffer had one mission: to preach the true word at all costs. It was a mission that grew after his older brother, killed in the first World War, left his bible to him. That mission gets challenged as Adolf Hitler takes over and want to band the Jewish bible by instilling his own. Now it’s up to Bonhoeffer and a small band of German ministers to fight back against the infamous Fuhrer.

Angel Studios‘ brings a unique retelling of one of the roughest moments in history as a little bit of hope is given. Dietrich Bonhoeffer is played by Jonas Dassler who does an exceptional job with his emotional acting. Audiences can truly fill everything Bonhoeffer must of faced even leading up to his unfortunate execution. All the while Dassler displays a unique sense of peace which Christians would say comes from hope in Christ.

All in all, at two hours and 15 minute run time, Bonhoeffer will leave audiences remembering the past and having hope in the future especially in the midst of what is going on in the world today. It’s a kind reminder of just where that hope comes from.

Bonhoeffer came out in theaters November 22 and is currently playing in one near you. Also if you want to help someone see this incredible movie, make sure to visit Angel Studios and pay it forward so that everyone can experience it on the live screen.
