“I’m going to find the man who murdered my wife and kill him”
This is the overlying plot after Ray Garrison (Vin Diesel) is brought back to life after watching his wife die right before his eyes. The question is how many times will he be sent to kill the man and why is it a different man each time. This fuels the basis of the film as Garrison is able to regenerate himself after every single scrap he deals with, as well as a new reprogramming that he must endure after each man he kills in the name of his wife.
The thing is he doesn’t remember just how many men he has killed as the plot for revenge grows with each planned murder.
At an hour forty nine minute run time, Sony’s Bloodshot is an action packed film that will give the audience far more then they’ve bargained for. Produced largely by Vin Diesel himself, there are clear elements of Vin Diesel’s highly familiar franchise, Fast and the Furious as it also contains fast cars and serious action packed punches.
Additionally, while the film does seem to be appealing to the eye and definitely keeps audiences’ eyes glued to the screen, one might say there are a few plot holes that ultimately leave the audience wanting more. The main plot hole is the underlying question that is brought up toward the beginning of the movie after the first revenge death and that is if his wife is in fact dead. This is a question that is never revisited and leaves the audience somewhat empty.
That aside, the film is worth seeing as it is truly some what of an original idea based on a comic book by Valiant Comics and is about a heroic, violent super soldier who is sent for revenge of some nature. The film came out in theaters March 13 2020 and is currently playing in one near you.
