“Bikeriders” REVIEW

ElvisAustin Butler joins Free Guy’s Jodie Comer as they enter the world of the infamous Vandal’s Motorcycle riding Club. What starts as innocent fun and comradore soon turns into more of a underground violence streak where Butler must make the ultimate choice: either he’s all in or go back to the love of his life.

Based on true events set in the late 60’s, early 70’s, The Bikeriders follows a photojournalist documenting the evolution of the infamous gang through the eyes of one of the wives. Comer, ultimately does a good job of portraying that image, while trying to remain faithful and hope that her husband comes to his senses before it’s too late. Equally Butler truly has that biker look, especially coming off his smash success as the King of Rock and Roll. He seamlessly glides into this role with much ease.

Similarly the film stars non faces including Venom’s Tom Hardy, who steps in as the leader of the pack with equal force. It’s as if the role of Johnny was made for him. The reporter, played by Michael Shannon, adds depth to not so complex gang as we see how each member of the gang got started and ultimately where they ended up in the end.

All in all at an hour 56 minute runtime, The Bikeriders, in true focus features fashion, has a truly unique way of telling the story. It’s one film that truly will have you one the edge of your seats. There are very few predictable scenes. That being said, the film is rated R, purely for the very intense language as well as violence, a bit of drug and sexual humor. However it’s nothing that you wouldn’t expect to hear out of that type of crowd. It will bring the story of the growth of the Vandals to life on the big screen.

The Bikeriders comes out in theaters June 21st and will be in a theater near you.
